The National Archives shows Nathaniel Hornback of
Warrick Co., IN was a Pvt. in Co. K, 12 Regt. KY Cavalry appearing on
the Company Muster Roll for "Enlistment to Dec 31, 1861". He joined for
duty and enrolled Aug 13, 1862 in Boonville, IN for a period of 3 years.
A card says Nathaniel Hornback, Pvt in Capt. Dial's Co., 12th Reg't KY
Mtd Vols, age 27, appears on Company Muster Roll at Owensboro, Nov 17,
1862. The 12th was organized at Owensboro, KY and that even before they
were mustered into service, they participated in some skirmishes with
the enemy in Kentucky. The Regiment was in the East Tenn. campaign and
the siege of Knoxville. Also it was with Gen. Stoneman's Division during
the Atlanta campaign.
The Indiana State Library shows military service for Nathaniel A.
Hornbeck, Allen B. and Abraham Hornbeck. Nathaniel served in the Warrick
Home Guards 3rd Regt. 8 days Jul 9, 1863 in Capt. Robert Perigos Company
Indiana Legion in Warrick Co. Isaac H. Hornback served 45 days from Jul
1, 1862 in Capt. Thomas Walker's Company, Spencer Co. and 4 days Jun 22,
1863, 11 days Jul 7, 1863, 34 days Sep 30, 1865 as a clerk. First
Lieutenant Allen B. Hornback of Eureka was commissioned on Sep 13, 1862
in the 4th Regt. IN Legion Spencer Co. Eureka Guards. Records show he
served 23 days in Capt. John H. Birth's Company. Mustered in Jul 1,
1862. Served 4 days Jun 22, 1863 and 11 days Jul 11, 1863 and 25 days
Jul 1, 1864.
