Records from the Adjuntant General's Office for Thomas Wesley LEACH-
Pension application # 75.606
"It appears from the rolls on file in this office, that Thomas W. LEACH was enrolled on the 11th of January, 1862 at Boonville in Co. "I", 53rd Regiment of Indiana Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war. Was mustered into service as a Private on the 24th day of February, 1862 at New Albany,
Indiana. On the muster Roll of the Co. return of that Regiment, for the months of May 1865, he is reported: A Corporal--died March 1st, 1865 at Parole Camp, (Camp Morton) in Indiana of disease. Nature of disease not stated. Enlisted as a veteran, February 24, 1864 and mustered into service March 9th, 1864 to serve 3 years."

His widow was Carra Ann SEVERS LEACH, she was a resident of Lane Township, Warrick, County. In her application of widow's pension on Dec 3 1864, she states that Thomas Wesley LEACH was a veteral Corporal in Company "I" 53rd Regiment of Indiana, commanded by Lt. White. She further states that Thomas was killed during battle--on or about the 22 of July, 1864 in Atlanta, Georgia.
