22 August 1888 Dora Nicholson, age 8 and Richard E. Nicholson, age 6 were admitted to the Warrick County Orphans' Home by order of A. W. Heim Trustee Campbell Township.

Richard remained in the orphanage until he was taken out by his father, William Nicholson on 2 May 1897. The April 1891 record lists they have a sister Mary living at Ft. Branch. In all the years he was listed in the register, when parents were listed his father, William Nicholson was named. During the majority of this time William L. Nicholson lived in Warrick Co., IN. By the time William L. Nicholson took his son out of the orphans' home William L. Nicholson was living in Evansville, Vanderburgh Co., IN.

Richard Earl Nicholson was the youngest child of the three children born to William L. Nicholson and Harriett McCrary. Their mother died 6 April 1884 and their father remarried 13 September 1885 to Angela Clark. Richard's oldest sister, Mary Edith Nicholson was married by the time she was listed in the orphans home record for Dora and Richard.

Mary Florence Miller had previously been married to a Victor Walter Withrow. They had one son. She filed for divorce and was granted divorce 18 March 1905, Superior Court Vanderburgh Co., IN

Richard Earl Nicholson

Dora Nicholson 27 June 1891 was taken by Michael Raibley of Spencer Co., IN. Dora's indenture was cancelled 7 September 1893. Dora was returned to her father 30 October 1893. I have not found Dora in the 1900 census. Dora married in 1901 in Vanderburgh Co., IN.
